I have been holding out on you. The Bordered Diamonds Kaffe Fasset Quilt is DONE!
I have had this quilt finished for over a week and haven’t blogged about it yet. Imagine that! You will remember the progression of this quilt here and here and here and here in past blog posts!
I am proud to say that this quilt has changed the way that I look at color.
I chose to stitch in the ditch for the quilting all of the diagonal lines which was quite a chore and took multiple sittings to get it completed. It was a lot of work; much more work than stippling.
I chose a fun black and white back to the quilt which I thought was a great contrast to the bold colors on the front of the quilt.
This quilt was quite a journey for me and I think it turned out pretty good. The truth is that I still struggle with the colors in this quilt and it forces me to not be so critical and to just let it be.

Here it is:
I am very proud of finishing this quilt and for pushing outside of my comfort zone. The result is fun and different and bright!
Go and be colorful!

Lalala! I love it!!,
Well done Wendy! Beautiful result, you should be proud!
I love it, Wendy! I’m usually very tame with my color choices too, and have a hard time going bold or thinking out of the box. I LOVE this though!
Thanks Megan!!
I think it’s FABULOUS! I love everything about it.
I am trying to come up with a pattern similar to this for a baby quilt but I cant get the sizes down pat. I want a row of 3 full diamonds, 2 full diamonds and 3 again with black around all diamonds. With a 3 to 4 inch black border. Is there a pattern that I could get that would tell me the size of everything so I can cut out fabric. I am new to quilting
Kathy…thanks for stopping by. I did use a Kaffe Fassett pattern that required a template for the diamonds themselves which I think it key. You could easily add a border to this quilt if you wanted. This specific pattern is out of the book “Simple Shapes Spectacular Quilts”. Best of luck!
Beautiful quilt – I love the baby memory quilt too. You have a beautiful blog, full of creativity and a joy to read, and so I have nominated your blog for a Liebster Award, which you can read about here http://lemonloves.co.uk/appreciation/ – wishing you a lovely weekend
It looks beautiful! Very kaffe! I love all the dot fabrics!
Thanks Kristen…you picked up on my fondness for dots!

Hi Sandra…thanks for stopping by. I am a self taught quilter and learn something new with every project I make. I taught myself from a book and then took a beginning quilting class that was great. There are some many great resources on line as well. Happy quilting!
